This Saturday Celebrate Maryland Traditions

A Screen Painting Workshop at a former Maryland Traditions Folklife Festival

The Creative Alliance at the Patterson will host a free, day-long celebration of Maryland traditions (both old and new) from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday. The Maryland Traditions Folklife Festival is expected to include performances, demonstrations, and workshops on indoor and outdoor stages. Crafts will be demonstrated by carvers, screen painters, boatbuilders, quilters, stone carvers, arabbers, weavers, and more, and there are plenty of activities for kids to partake in. Musical performances will run the gamut from salsa to Appalachian gospel, with some bluegrass, doo-wop, African percussive dance, and Chinese guzheng thrown in. Food vendors will also be on hand to satisfy revelers' hunger.
